CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

(Select just one level and delete the others)

Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are isiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children has a responsibility to co-lead with UNICEF the Education Cluster, this is the case both globally and response by response. 

This role is provide senior leadership to the Education Cluster that has been established under the Ukraine Humanitarian Response.

The role is at an equivalent level to that of the Country Office Senior Management Team, but does not sit on that team as Cluster responsibilities are outside those of the Country Office.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Save the Children Country Director

Number of direct reports: To be determined

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • To provide strategic leadership to the Education Cluster in Ukraine and do so in a collaborative and participatory manner.
  • To ensure that there is effective engagement between the education aspects of the humanitarian response and the senior levels of the national Ukrainian government (in particular the Ministry of Science and Education) and also regional and municipal authorities.
  • To support all actors – international and national – to deliver their contributions to the humanitarian response.
  • To ensure that the education response is effectively integrated with other aspects of the response as a whole.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Evidence of providing strategic leadership in an environment where there are many international actors
  • Evidence of working at a senior level with or within government
  • Evidence of coordinating the delivery of projects across a wide and complex environment.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in humanitarian responses
  • Experience of working within an educational context.
