Project Coordinator (Community Engagement)

Duration: 4 months with the possibility of extension

 

Background:

 

People in Need (PIN) has been active in Ukraine since early August 2014 and the humanitarian programs have been rapidly expanding since then. Currently, PIN is one of the major humanitarian actors in Eastern Ukraine while providing neutral and independent humanitarian aid to conflict-affected people. So far PIN has implemented number of multi-purpose cash grants, Shelter, Protection, Livelihoods and WASH interventions and supported more than 2 millions vulnerable populations, including IDPs, returnees and host communities in both urban and rural locations.

 

Position summary

 

Project Coordinator (Community Engagement) supports all project teams in assigned area to engage communities to implement project activities. He/She closely cooperates with Project teams, Technical Leads and MEAL team to ensure community engagement in project cycle management.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Lead community engagement process in project cycle management across all thematic area and projects implemented by PIN.
  • Support technical leads and PDQA department to ensure community participation in program development phase including needs assessment.
  • Support project implementation team in community engagement process in project activities.
  • Support technical leads and MEAL team to ensure community participation in monitoring and evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships and rapport with target communities, local authorities, community-based organizations, social institutions and other important stakeholders in target communities.
  • Keep up to date profile of target communities where PIN implements various projects.
  • Support communities in their initiatives e.g. micro grants/community projects etc.
  • Report and documentation of community engagement process in all projects

 

Required background and competences:

 

  • University degree in social work, social sciences or related discipline;
  • At least 3 of relevant work experience, of which 1 year in humanitarian/development sector preferably with voluntary organization, International NGO, UN or intergovernmental agencies or relevant Government Ministry/Department.
  • Experience of working with communities in eastern Ukraine, involving community projects/micro grants, citizen engagement, etc., is an asset.
  • Advanced English level;
  • Understanding about issues, vulnerability and capacities of communities in Eastern Ukraine; particularly in Donbass
  • Advanced PC skills;
  • Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian response system in Ukraine;
  • Communication skills;
  • Skill to mobilize and engage communities in project cycle management.
