Project Manager, Machine Learning Lab, UCU

Location: Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv, Faculty of Applied Sciences

Summary:

The Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our Machine Learning Lab and work closely with faculty, PhD students, and industry partners to ensure the success of the lab's projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the development of grant proposals, tracking project operations, managing budgets and contracts, accounting lab’s research results (e.g., papers) and publishing online, communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders to advance the lab's mission. This is a full-time office-based position, with flexible working hours available to accommodate personal or family needs.

Responsibilities:

• Help develop and submit grant proposals to secure external funding for the lab's research projects.

• Manage all aspects of grant-funded projects, including budgets, timelines, reporting requirements, and coordination with other research teams and partners.

• Ensure compliance with all grant and contract requirements, including monitoring spending, tracking progress, and submitting reports.

• Track and manage all project operations, including personnel, contracts and facilities.

• Actively assist in fostering relationships with faculty, PhD students, and industry partners to advance the lab's research agenda and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

• Develop and implement strategies to promote the lab's work and engage with the broader research community.

• Account research results of the lab’s members (papers, conference participation, etc.)

• Manage lab’s webpage.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field or with relative experience (e.g., computer science, statistics, engineering, etc.).

• At least two years of experience in international academic and/or industrial research projects. 

• Experience in grant proposal writing and project management.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups of people.

• Strong team management skills.

• Good oral and written English.

The Machine Learning Lab (MLLab) was founded in 2018. It is a part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. Our research has several branches of focus and we are constantly expanding and looking for new challenges. Сurrently, we are working on: machine learning and deep learning algorithms applied to the supervised and weakly-supervised visual recognition problems; robust single view geometry estimation; reinforcement learning for optimization and control problems. Our research center has well-established connections with industry and academia.
