Senior K8S Engineer, Banking App

DataArt is currently engaged in the process of modernizing the IT-structure of a commercial bank whose assets are worth roughly $2 billion. The number of services the bank provides to their clients is constantly growing, and so does the number of clients (several million as of today). This fact drives the bank to expand the features of their IT systems, which is done by using cutting-edge technologies. DataArt's specialists are currently helping the company to implement this.

Our specialists develop, test, and support client applications and parts of the bank's internal system. They all must work fast and under high load while being flexible enough to also introduce new features. The applications we're creating help the clients with their financial history and analyze financial flows. DataArt is also integrating applications with payment systems and other external services.

We are not hiring the specialist just for this project, but also for one of the companies of the global DataArt network. When the project is over, or if after some time you no longer are satisfied by the project, you can discuss transitioning to another project with the managers.

Responsibilities

• Supporting CI/CD and testing platform components supplied as Kubernetes Operators
• Developing proprietary K8s cluster management mechanisms based on the Cluster API
• Preparing and supporting assembly pipelines for basic OS images for the platform
• Integrating auxiliary system components: Storage, CNI, Kata Containers
• Supporting the top-level component development team: Service Catalog, Knative, Service Mesh

Required Skills and Experience

• Expert K8s knowledge in the field of architecture and interaction of platform components: ETCDs, controllers, kubelet interactions with runtimes
• Expertise in the integration of low-level components of K8s: CSI, CNI specifications
• Ability to write automation scripts with: bash, cloud-init, ignition
• Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn Go

Additional Competencies

• Understanding the mechanisms of container isolation: namespaces, cgroups
• Expertise in container graph drivers
• Experience with Qemu/KVM and their optimization
