Translator/Interpreter

Over the past 20 years Egis, a key engineering group in France, has continued its support to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) as well as other executive bodies. Now Egis Ukraina has more than 80 employees working on a full-time and part-time bases. Its central office is located in Kyiv and project offices are hosted in Kharkiv, Poltava, Ternopil and Lviv.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Translation of documents from English into Ukrainian and vice versa upon request;
  
• Editing and proofreading of materials which have been translated, correcting grammatical, stylistic errors and ensuring a high-quality finished product tailored to the target audience;
  
• Interpreting during official meetings/conferences/workshops as well as during the project missions accompanying international experts to the cities of Ukraine;
  
• Contributing to the ongoing compilation and maintenance of Company's terminology database.
  

Qualifications, experience and skills:

• Master's degree in Translation Studies or equivalent in languages;
  
• A mastery-level of English, as well as an intermediate command of at least one other Western European language (preferably French);
  
• At least 1 full year of documented experience as a professional translator/interpreter or a track record of performing the tasks required by the position;
  
• A sound working knowledge of MS Office, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  

You need to show evidence of:

• Fluency in English and Ukrainian;
• Excellent writing skills and command of grammar;
• Attention to details combined with the ability to work quickly to meet deadlines;
• Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages - knowledge of CAT tools and translation-oriented software is helpful, though not essential;
  
• Eagerness to acquire new knowledge.

What to expect:

• Expect to work to an average daily output of 8-10 pages (consider 1 page to be 1800 characters with space);
  
• The position envisages missions across Ukraine as well as intense concentration and pressure to submit translations to deadline;
