Forklift Operator

Job Purpose: 

The Forklift Operator loads, unloads, moves and stacks products and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment and performs basic warehousing procedures, under the responsibility of Warehouse Supervisor and in accordance with safety instructions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Participates in warehouse inventory counts.
• Arranges goods in the warehouse according to instructions.
• Assists in carrying, strapping, weighing, labelling and packing goods to be shipped out.
• May supervise day loaders and workers.
• Assists in loading consignments ready for dispatch.
• Updates bin cards and stock cards when supervising an inventory transaction.
• Keeps the facility's equipment and materials neat, clean and orderly; inspects and performs minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment and reports any malfunctions.
• Ensures that risks are mitigated by performing the controls assigned to his/her.

The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Professional qualifications

• Primary school level.
• Forklift driver’s license (up to 4 tons, diesel and electric).
• Minimum one year’s experience of forklift operating and storekeeping.
• Basic knowledge of spoken English an asset.
• Driving license (category B) an asset.
