ACCESS TO EDUCATION FIELD OFFICER

Mariupol based (contract starts in January 2020)

AIM OF THE POSITION

• The Access to Education Officer contributes to the implementation of ICRC's Access to Education (A2E) strategy.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under the guidance and supervision of Education delegate, contributes to the development and implementation of Access to education Strategy
• Identifies and establishes relationship with the main education-related actors, both national and international, in the respective area of responsibility (AoR)
• Identifies risks and obstacles for the population living close to the line of contact, especially children, to access formal and informal educational opportunities
• Together with colleagues from other departments, initiates and follows up on educational needs assessments of educational institutions close to the line of contact
• Participates in and/or leads the development of project proposals with other colleagues
• Maintains the relationship with educational facilities, monitors and follows up on the implementation of the project activities or assistance provided
• Ensures the transversely of the ICRC education file by involving different departments throughout all stages of the project life cycle.
• Collects and analyses education-related data and provides regular education updates through different internal reporting mechanisms
• Knows and adheres to the Access to Education strategy, and is able to explain and promote the methodology both internally and with relevant interlocutors

REQUIREMENTS

• University degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or another relevant social sciences discipline
• Two to three years of working experience in the Education field, preferably in education project management for a non-governmental organisation and ideally in combination with experience as a school psychologist
• Knowledge of the relevant national and international standards and guidelines related to the education in emergencies and child protection
• Experience in data collection and analysis, particularly different methods of needs assessments (such as interviews, FGD, surveys, observation)
• Ability to quickly build rapport with individuals and groups
• Ability to think creatively and critically and to contribute to and try out innovative approaches and insights
• Ability to work under minor supervision and as a part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Capacity to adhere to and implement organisational procedures.
• Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
• Excellent team work and interpersonal communication skills
• Computer proficiency
