    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.

     

    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.

     

    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 400 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    SAFER ACCESS TO EDUCATION FIELD OFFICER

    Based in Kyiv

     

     

    AIM OF THE POSITION

     

    The Safer Access to Education Field Officer based in Kyiv will look at what is being done in the field and properly connect with the actors involved in education. S/he will support the A2E advisor in assessing and analyzing where the ICRC has an added value given its unique mandate and access and contribute to implementation of some concrete responses adapted to the context and the environment.

     

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • With the support of the Access to Education Advisor (A2E Advisor), promotes and coordinates delegation's Safer Access to Education (SA2E) strategy through proactive and original thinking and good analysis of the context and Education needs.
    • Executes tasks related to SA2E program,
    • Executes tasks mainly independently
    • Collects and compiles information on schools close to the Line of Contact
    • Translates documents for informal use
    • Together with the A2E Advisor, maintains contacts with all education related external interlocutors
    • provides written reporting on the specific SA2E activities when required

     

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     

     

    Education and professional qualifications

     

    • University degree or relevant professional experience
    • 2 years of working experience in the Education field or in the humanitarian sector would be an asset
    • Good knowledge of spoken and written English
    • Good communication skills
    • Good negotiation skills
    • Good computer knowledge

    • Genuine interest to work in humanitarian aid field;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong sense of responsibility;
    • Good team player.
