    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.



    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.



    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    The role of the purchaser is to satisfy the requester demands respecting the best quality/price/ service relation and ensuring the compliance of ICRC standard procedures.




    • Responsible for all the follow up process since the reception of the request order, until the goods/services are delivered to the requester;
    • Ensures compliance with the ICRC standard procedures for purchasing;
    • Analyses offers and recommends the selection of suppliers;
    • Maintains relations with internal and external interlocutors;
    • Responsible for the reception of goods, quality and quantity control and claims attendance;
    • Ensures that purchase files are updated;
    • Conducts markets surveys and prospects new potential suppliers;
    • Ensures that all standard databases are filled correctly and used.


    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.





    Education and professional qualifications


    • Secondary school level or a technical school;
    • 2 years working experience in similar field of activity;
    • Good knowledge of spoken English and basic knowledge of written English;
    • Basic computer knowledge;
    • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment;
    • Capacity to adhere to ICRC procedures;
    • Negotiation skills.
