    MENTAL HEALTH & PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT FIELD OFFICER

     

    Based in Donetsk

     

     

    AIM OF THE POSITION

     

    The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer will help implementing and developing the activities related to Mental Health and Psychosocial support. (S)He will establish and maintain contacts with local structures, colleagues and other interlocutors as agreed with the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Delegate. (S)He will keep an eye on the evolution of the situation and possible MHPSS needs under the supervision of the MHPSS delegate in accordance with the structure's objectives.

     

     

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

     

     

    • Implement MHPSS activities in line with the defined action plan and under supervision of the MHPSS delegate;
    • Provide direct MHPSS to helpers (teachers, first aiders, volunteers...), such as regular group sessions involving psycho-education, discussion and stress management;
    • Provide indirect MHPSS to the affected population/ beneficiaries through capacity building and training of helpers/ non-specialized MHPSS workers (teachers, first aiders, volunteers...) in basic psychosocial support;
    • Follow-up of the above mentioned activities;
    • Maintain regular contact with other stakeholders involved in MHPSS activities (networking) and make appropriate referrals to those services if necessary;
    • Work in close contact with other ICRC Departments (EcoSec, Protection, Wathab) to provide a more coordinated and integrated response to the needs;
    • Evaluate continuously the development of the situation and possible MHPSS needs (affected areas, vulnerable categories);
    • Compile work reports as required in English;
    • Translate non-institutional documents and interprets while in meetings or field visits.

     

    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.

     

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     

    Education and professional qualifications

     

    • Higher education in Psychology, Clinical Psychology is desirable;
    • 2 years' work experience in a similar field of activity;
    • Very good computer literacy;
    • Good rigor, method and analytical skills;
    • Group facilitation skills, training and supervision experience;
    • Good knowledge of the environment;
    • Good knowledge of spoken and written English (this is mandatory);
    • Capacity to adhere to and to implement procedures.
