    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.



    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.



    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    Sloviansk based





    • The Communication FO is in charge of operational and public communication for the area of responsibility covered by the Sub-Delegation, under the supervision of the Head of Sub-Delegation;
    • He/She ensures that the delegation's identity and positioning are clearly communicated through ICRC's operations on the ground;
    • He/She supports ICRC staff to carry out COM activities, by sharing available tools, material and best practices in communication.




    • Contribute actively to the Sub-Delegation's efforts in terms of environment scanning and analysis of the social, political, and humanitarian and security situation;
    • Conducts operational communication activities in the field, including perception analysis and dissemination;
    • Assesses current operational communication practices, proposes changes if necessary and encourages sharing and standardization of best practices;
    • Provides coaching, training and support to ICRC staff regarding operational communication. Ensures clarity and coherence of key messages conveyed by all;
    • Produces written and photographic content about the activities of the ICRC in the Sub-Delegation for ICRC different public communication tools;
    • Trains and supports ICRC staff to participate in the production of written and photographic content;
    • Contributes to maintaining and developing networks / relations with relevant interlocutors;
    • Participates in the Sub-Delegation initiatives to strengthen internal communication;
    • Represents the ICRC;
    • Prepares written reporting.



    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.





    Education and professional qualifications


    • High Education (University or Institute);
    • 4 years' work experience in a similar field of activity.



    Professional attributes


    • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English;
    • Very good computer literacy;
    • Good rigor, method and analytical skills;
    • Good knowledge of the political, social and cultural assigned environment;
    • Experience of work in multinational/ multicultural environment;
    • Excellent interpretation skills between English/Russian/Ukrainian.


    Personal competencies


    • Genuine interest to work in humanitarian aid field;
    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and take initiative;
    • Ability to work under minor supervision;
    • Assertiveness and enthusiasm;
    • Strong sense of responsibility;
    • Good team player.
