    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.

    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.

    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    The Water and Habitat Engineer will be responsible for the proper implementation of Water and Habitat projects in Donetsk Oblast in the area of responsibility covered by the Sloviansk ICRC Sub-Delegation.



    • Is in charge of Water and Habitat Projects: plans, organises and monitors the implementation of projects, as per given objectives and procedures.
    • Writes reports in relation to the project and Water and Habitat programs in general.
    • Assist the program responsible / Water & Habitat Delegate regarding the Water & Habitat needs.
    • Performs technical assessments of buildings and infrastructures.
    • Elaborates projects designs, bills of quantities and costs estimates with specifications.
    • Participates in preparation of tender documentation and contractual documents.
    • Supervises contractors to ensure that minimum standards of construction works are respected and are acceptable.
    • Executes administrative and office work related to the projects.
    • Maintains contact with other organizations, authorities, local interlocutors and suppliers.




    Education and professional qualifications

    • High Education (University or Institute
    • 4 years work experience in a similar field of activity
    • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English
    • Very good computer literacy
    • Good rigor, method and analytical skills
    • Management skills
    • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment

    Preferable qualifications

    • Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering degree
    • Fluent in Ukrainian and Russian languages.
    • Good knowledge of computer engineering programs (including MS Office programs, AutoCAD etc)
    • Knowledge of Ukrainian construction norms and standards
