    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.


    The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 80 countries and has some 13,000 field staff.


    In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence to Ukraine. There are more than 300 ICRC staff working in Kyiv, Sloviansk, Severodonetsk, Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa.

    The Health Field Officer provides essential assistance to the Health Delegate who is responsible for the Hospital Support and Primary Health Care Programs in the Government controlled areas of Donetsk Oblast.




    • Liaison role with Ministry of Health staff in hospitals, polyclinics and primary health care facilities and other health interlocutors.
    • Assists with assessing, analyzing and reporting the health needs of people affected by the conflict, especially those living near the conflict line.
    • Performs a range of administration duties to meet operational needs.
    • Collects and collates data to monitor the impact of ICRC health programs.
    • Organizes educational seminars provided by ICRCs.
    • Works collaboratively with other members of the sub delegation.


    The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.




    Education and professional qualifications

    • Nursing certificate or graduate as Medical Doctor with experience interpreting medical terminology.
    • At least 2 years work experience in a similar field of activity
    • Good knowledge of spoken and written English
    • Good computer knowledge
    • Capacity to adhere to and to implement procedures
    • Good communication skills
    • Able to work in an austere environment involving field trips
    • Ability to work methodically with demonstrated analytical skills

    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Good team player but also able to work independently.
    • Flexible/ready to travel if required (Mariupol/Sloviansk).
