Position Summary:  

The DW Software Quality Assurance Engineer is primarily responsible for testing our automated transaction process and supporting the testing process of our enterprise data warehouse. This position will be responsible for building and executing test plans for new data model updates and will be responsible for capturing test cases for building a test case repository to manage data integrity across our Facts and Dimensions of our enterprise data warehouse.

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with the members of other departments to understand source system related issues, as well as managing and responding to Software Quality Assurance issues within the data warehouse team.

Role Specifics:

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will define, develop, implement, and execute reusable, flexible, accurate and well-documented testing artifacts. This includes test cases, specifications and other technical documentation based on defined workflows, use cases and business requirements.

This position will be responsible for determining the root cause of issues and work with the data warehouse team to resolve those issues in a timely and efficient manner. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will assist in managing and maintaining QA environment and test equipment, including performing the necessary configuration changes to the test environment for product release.

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for coordinating with DW Product Owners and/or Technology teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner. This position will continually improve knowledge of methodologies, products, and tools to ensure that quality assurance process follows best practices, promoting innovation and adoption of new technologies, when applicable.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of Software testing experience, with data validation, strong T-SQL skills
• Ability to translate user stories into test plan, test data and test cases to validate stories
• Demonstrated understanding of Agile practices and the responsibilities of QA in them
• Desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality, and reliability
• Proficiency with databases and writing complex SQL queries for data verification purposes
• Outstanding organizational and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
• Very strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business, Accounting, other related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• Strong understanding of Data Warehouse star schema designs and data modeling relationships between Facts and Dimensions
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL
• Demonstrated ability to write complex queries
• Proven experience with Agile Development
• Financial and/or Supply Chain business experience, preferred
• Ability to create regression test cases for data warehouse fact and dimension tables
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to adjust messages appropriately based on audience.  A premium is placed on the ability to communicate complex issues in their simplest terms.
