Teaching Assistant (Learning support with Mathematic degree)

International School is looking for a Learning Support Teaching Assistant

The outcomes and actions required for this position are as follows. The Learning support teaching assistant:

Supports the Learning Resource (LR) Teacher 

• Develops their own understanding of the individual learning needs of the children being worked with
• Monitors, advises and assists in the pastoral care of students
• Reports student illness, accident or injury to School Office or administration and cooperating teacher
• Directs parent communication to cooperate with a teacher
• Uses the non-contact time during the school day for professional duties and development

Supports students under the guidance of the LR teacher

• Works with individual students, small groups and whole class
• Develops and delivers lesson plans
• Provides appropriate feedback on student work
• Participates in and contributes to collaborative planning meetings
• Supports students in realizing their full potential
• Helps maintain records as assigned by the LR teacher
• Assists in maintaining discipline and good order inside and outside the classroom to include but not limited to hallways, lunchroom, playground, buses

Qualifications

The TA for Learning support:

• Must have a degree in mathematics (preferably teaching degree)
• Teaching experience 
• Is a professional, friendly and polite manner at all times when dealing with the whole school community
• Works as a supportive team member
• Demonstrates sound communication skills
• Is aware of and discreet about confidential issues
• Demonstrates a helpful and willing attitude at all times
• Shows interest in learning teaching methodologies and strategies
• Takes increasing responsibility in classroom situations in a proactive manner
• Has a flexible and positive understanding of how children learn and how best to support them
