DBA/Database Software Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our client is a large UK-based sports retailer started online in the late 1990s operating both locally and overseas through several localized websites. Over a decade, the company has grown into a market leader with its own sport labels and a range of sponsored events.

Now we are looking for a Database Administrator/Software Engineer who will be the main person to ensure that SQL script created by Developers corresponds to established standards and performance criteria. The challenge of this position is the ability to work both with development teams and with the production environment. This position brings a variety of activities and a chance to be involved in live environment maintenance, live issues resolution, and performance tuning. In this position, you will use the latest technologies and tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct daily health checks and monitoring of the production environment aiming to guarantee stable work of the website and other systems for the client
• Manage Backups and deadlocks resolution
• Create new and manage existing packages (SSRS\SSIS) to provide stakeholders with required analytical information
• Take part in proactive communication with stakeholders for the better understanding of their needs and to help in issues resolution
• Effectively communicate to other members of a distributed team to agree and define the scope of work and priorities

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong MS SSIS\ MS SSRS skills
• Experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2008\2017
• Good understanding of SQL\T-SQL
• Experience in Disaster Recovery
• Strong knowledge of PowerShell
• Production experience in Jira
• Practical experience in GIT
• Good communication and personal skills to be able to work in a busy environment
• Positive way of thinking
• Intermediate or higher English level (B1+), both written and verbal
