The Energy and Climate Sector of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Ukraine comprises 9 projects implemented on behalf of the German government to support Ukraine on its way to transforming into an energy-efficient country. Partners of the projects are Ukrainian ministries on the national level, local communities on the municipal level, and companies in private sector. The projects are supported by a Communications’ Unit to guarantee the proper communication of projects’ goals and results. To strengthen the Communication team ahead of the growing project portfolio, GIZ is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of PR and Communication specialist.

We are looking for a full-time PR & Communications Specialist with strong writing skills and a firm grasp of political realities and sensitivity to support the implementation of communication strategies. Activities of this position will focus on the project “Support for Structural Change in Ukrainian Coal Regions” which aims to ensure that Ukraine carries out the structural change associated with the coal phase-out in a socially and economically compatible and ecologically sustainable manner, with the involvement of civil society.

Responsibilities

• Steering the development and implementation of Communication Strategy for “Structural Change in Ukrainian Coal Regions”, together with Service Provider.
• Copywriting and ensuring quality of projects’ success stories for various internal and external online and offline channels, such as social media, websites, interviews, press releases, presentations etc.
• Coordinating press and PR activities.
• Supporting projects with strategic orientation of communication to various target groups, while presenting a consistent corporate image and communicating GIZ corporate policy and strategy to staff in the cluster.
• Work in close cooperation with projects’ monitoring and evaluation adviser to guarantee the project is developing towards the defined outcomes.
• Communication with national press, national and regional partners, international donors and implementing organizations, other GIZ projects, and the GIZ country office.
• Ensuring communication among the projects effectively, e.g. introducing and moderating useful communication formats. Provide them proactively with information on the basis of equal treatment of all projects in the energy and climate portfolio.
• Steering of Service Providers.
• Ensuring the implementation of standards and guidelines for communication activities of GIZ.

Requirements

• University degree or comparable training in PR / Communication or equivalent education.
• At least 5 years of work experience in the field of communication (Press and Public Relations, Journalism, internal communications or lobbying or similar). Knowledge of energy (efficiency) is an advantage.
• High proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English.
• Very good oral and writing skills in Ukrainian and English; competent and confident style of communication and presentation with public and target-oriented groups. Moderation skills are an advantage.
• Experience with production of media for different information channels, Social Media Skills are an advantage.
• Experience in control and briefing of service providers and agencies.
• Knowledge of publishing and graphics applications are desired.
• Proficient use of MS Office Package.

Employment conditions

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. The assignment starts as soon as possible. Contract duration till November 2024.
